Biography

Prof. K. Gurunathan, BOYSCAST(DST, India) Fellow,  Brain Pool Scientist ( KOFTS,S. Korea). He has participated  LEAP program ( NUEPA & MHRD, New Delhi) and Rastriya Nirman Rathna Awardee, EGSI, Delhi heading the Dept. for Nanoscience & Technology, Alagappa University, Karaikudi-630 003, INDIA since 2008. He is a Chairperson for  School of Chemical Sciences, Alagappa University and Fellow TN Academy of Sciences, Chennai.  He was a member of Syndicate, Senate, IQAC  and he is member of academic council of Alagappa University, Karaikudi.  He was Special Officer ( Projects) of Alagappa University during 2019-2022, Karaikudi.            
He received  B.Sc ( Chemistry) & M.Sc ( Chemistry) from M. K. University, Madurai and Ph.D ( Chemistry-Energy) from Madras University, Chennai, India. Before joining Alagappa University, he was R&D Materials scientist  & Project Program Coordinator,  Centre for Materials for Electronics Technology ( C-MET),  ( Ministry of Information Tech., GOI),  Pune, INDIA from 1997  to 2008. In this period, he developed  a lot of Nanomaterials by Indigenously for ISRO and DRDO particularly for Supercapacitors and Hybrid Micro-circuit applications. He has successfully completed  one mission project on Electronic packaging, one International project on Organic-Inorganic hybrid solar cells and one developmental work order on nanoporous hydrous RuO2 for Supercapacitor from ISRO. His recent research interest is on Nanomaterials for  Hydrogen energy, Solar cells, Nano gas sensors and electronics.  He published 180 papers in peer reviewed journals and presented 250 papers in National/International conferences. He has guided 7 Ph.D scholars and guiding more than 5 Ph.D scholars. He is a life fellow in SAEST, CECRI, Karaikudi, Materials Research Society of India (MRSI), Bangalore and Indian science Congress Association (ISCA), Kolkotta
