Prof. Dr. Litter is PhD in Chemistry (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1974) with a doctoral stay at the University of Arizona, USA (1983). She is Senior Researcher of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET) and Professor and Consultant at the University of General San Martín, Argentina. She was Senior Investigator at the National Atomic Energy Commission, where she was Chief of the Chemical Division of Environmental Remediation. Her research focuses on the treatment of pollutants in water and air by innovative advanced technologies, especially heterogeneous photocatalysis and use of iron-based nanomaterials. She authored more than 250 scientific publications in journals, books and book chapters. She was President of the Organizing Committee of the 5th International Congress of Arsenic in the Environment, Buenos Aires, Argentina (2014). She was named a pioneer of photocatalysis in Argentina (2016). She is a Member of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS, 2019), of the Academy of Sciences of Latin America (ACAL, 2020) and of the Academy of Environmental Sciences of Argentina (2022). She received the following awards: Mercosur (UNESCO) twice, in 2006 and 2011, Innovar in 2009 (MINCYT), Charreau for Regional Scientific and Technological Cooperation in 2021, Latin American Women in Chemistry in 2021 (American Chemical Society and Latin American Federation of Chemical Associations), Houssay Trajectory in Environmental Sciences and Technologies in 2022 (MINCyT) and Konex-Diploma of Merit Award Physicochemical and Inorganic Chemistry category in 2023. She will receive the award for distinguished scientific research in the fields of Advanced Oxidation Processes by CIPOA-6 in 2024.
